- Look in the news. See what's going on and what's popular. Try looking the current sporting events for ideas. What movies are doing well in the theatres? What things are hot sellers? Pay attention to things around you - what cars do you see the most of? What on the most billboards? Notice things people say when they are talking about things they like and that interest them. Most likely if one person is interested in something, there are others!
- I spend countless hours searching the net for inspiration. One good thing I use is StumbleUpon with some of my categories being set to web development and the like. I get a lot of pages that show "favorite sites" or "greatly designed sites" or pages with interesting effects using only css. The web might show you some inspiration, but ultimately you'll find more creative ideas about how to do certain effects. The best inspiration can be found everywhere. On the net, at a party, at a park, playing with kids, listening to music. You either are a creative person or you are not so much. If you are, you will find inspiration everywhere around you. Remember, that just knowing how to code the page doesn't make you a designer, only a developer.
- why would I buy a web template from you when I can get something customized cross browser and css friendly for free. There are tons of sites out there that give away/ try to sell templates.... You're better off finding an actual website that needs to be developed and building that customizing it to the persons needs. Find a local business with no online presence tell them you'll build them a site for free if you get a percentage of the profits from the website once it's built. They get online sales for free... You get a site to put on your resume and potentially easy cash if you promote it right...
