How can I turn a normal Photoshop font into an outline with transparent fill?
That is, standard type fonts like Bookman or Antiqua, rather than Desdemona, which is already designed as an outlined font. I know there's a way to do it, because I've seen an outline made from the Ayuthaya font, but I haven't been able to recreate the effect myself. At first, I tried just changing the text layer transparency and adding a drop shadow... Heh. For obvious reasons, that didn't work. So, what should I try next?

- try right clicking on the text layer in the layers window. Click Rasterize Layor, this makes the text now lyk an image n you can play with the transparency/opacity from there. Hope this helps
- Outline the layer in your blending options (the little circle f in your layers box). Then create a new layer and using your selection wand, click "use all layers" and make sure "continuous" is not checked. Then when you highlight the outline, go to edit>copy all layers and then paste the outline only into a new layer.
- right click and choose 'convert into curves'. This will create your outline. Now, click the outline tool and choose black or whatever color you want. Now click on the fill tool, and choose none. There you have it. If you want to remove the outline, do the same as the fill. Choose outline and click none. Now you have everything transparent.
